Amplifying the History Curriculum for Multilingual Learners

March 18 @ 4:30 pm
Event Series (See All)

Join us to discuss how teachers can “amplify” rather than “simplify” history instruction for multilingual learners (and all students) by engaging with historical texts and interactive learning opportunities. We are celebrating the publication of the 2nd edition of Amplifying the Curriculum: Designing Quality Learning Opportunities for Multilingual Learners, which includes a chapter co-authored by Professor George Bunch and HCP Director Dr. Daisy Martin.

We will focus on the History/Social Studies chapter titled, “Selecting, Preparing, and Using Multiple texts in the History Classroom, ” and consider teaching the Deportations of the 1930s. The event will include presentations and discussions about creating inclusive learning environments and advancing equity using student-centered curriculum frameworks! We will host these events at both a Santa Cruz County and Monterey County location.
