You are invited to world premiere read-through of Today it Rains, celebratory Opera Day reception, and opening night of Mozart’s beloved The Magic Flute -- all in one day!

Today it Rains
Witness the creation of an opera based on the life of Georgia O’Keeffe, called “Today it Rains” by Laura Kaminsky which highlights O’Keeffe’s struggle to claim her own space and vision as an artist. Opera Parallele, a San Francisco based company under the direction of Maestra Nicole Paiement (Emerita, UCSC Music Department), commissioned this opera by award-winning composer Laura Kaminsky. Join Nicole Paiement, (Emerita, UCSC Music Department), performers, the librettists, the composer, and the director for the final workshop presentation of this opera in the making.

4 PM in the UC Santa Cruz Music Building rehearsal room 131(reservation required, free and open to the public)

Magic Flute
Join us for the opening night of UCSC Opera's The Magic Flute. Mozart's irresistible score performed by UCSC singers and orchestra, Schikaneder's libretto (with a few tweaks), costumes by Academy of Arts University, set and lighting by Legend Theatrical, hair and makeup by Jessica Carter. Sheila Willey directs, Bruce Kiesling conducts. Special guest Ann Moss as The Queen of the Night. Come for the fairytale, stay for the high notes!

Sung in German, dialogues and supertitles in English.
