Letters to Home

November 19 @ 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Learn about the Pasifika student experience in higher education on Thursday, November 19th from 4:30-6:30pm at the Mary Holmes Fireside Lounge (Cowell), as we reflect on our journeys to UCSC! Write letters to those who have guided you, or even to yourself, as we respond to reflection prompts and discuss with others. Food and stationery will be provided!

Pasifika is a term used to describe those living in the diaspora who trace their heritage back to the Pacific Islands of Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia.

With less than 1% of the college population identifying as Pasifika, connection and community are important in creating a home away from home for those taking the leap into higher education.

Hosted by the Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center (AA/PIRC) at UCSC, this event is FREE and open to all UCSC affiliates (students, staff, and faculty). AA/PIRC is one of the six ethnic, gender, and sexuality resource centers at UCSC, offering events and other opportunities to connect with the AA/PI/SWANA diaspora.

For questions or accommodation requests, please email aapirc@ucsc.edu.
