An upcoming campus event brings together the Carbon Fund, Campus Sustainability Council, and the Earth Futures Institute Fellowship to showcase sustainable student funding opportunities.
Students and campus community members with a vision for environmental impact are invited to the $ustainable $lug Fund $howcase on Oct. 13th, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. This free event serves as a central hub for students and staff to discover, navigate, and secure funding across UC Santa Cruz’s major sustainability grant programs. Designed to demystify the funding process, this showcase brings representatives from four key campus granting bodies directly to students in one collaborative space:
- The Carbon Fund: Supporting projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conduct relevant research, or carry out education and behavioral change programs.
- Campus Sustainability Council (CSC): Funding student-initiated programs that promote environmental stewardship and social justice on campus.
- Earth Futures Institute Fellowship: Fostering innovative, interdisciplinary research and fellowship opportunities focused on long-term planetary resilience.
Attendees will:
- Learn which of the four funding streams best matches your project’s goals, scale, and focus area.
- Access a clear timeline of upcoming submission cycles to ensure proposals are turned in on time.
- Understand the evaluation criteria and voting priorities used by selection committees to build a competitive application.
- Review past funded projects to spark fresh ideas and see how previous student leaders turned grant dollars into campus impact.
