Join Anastatia Foster for this informative class on effective gopher control methods that are safe for humans and the environment. \nGophers and other vertebrate pests take a huge toll in agriculture as well as your own backyard; as much as 10 to 50% of crops can be lost to animal pests. This workshop will cover innovative methods and tools to reduce crop damage by managing pest populations in several ways. The most effective lethal traps and techniques will be presented along with exclusion barriers\, integrating pest predators\, and crop rotation.

One of his hummingbird photographs taken at the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum & Botanic Garden is among several of his images featured locally on a Santa Cruz METRO wildlife bus as part of the “One Ride at a Time” conservation campaign. His work has been published by National Geographic (online) and Outdoor Photographer\, and recognized in major competitions\, including the Audubon Photography Awards and Nature’s Best International Photography Awards. Lohman actively supports conservation organizations through the donation and use of his photography. \nBring your camera and join award-winning wildlife photographer Kevin Lohman for an informal\, “getting started” wildlife photography field workshop in the gardens. Designed for anyone with an interest in hummingbird photography\, this relaxed session will cover practical tips for finding\, observing\, and photographing these fast-moving birds\, along with guidance that applies to wildlife subjects more broadly. SUMMARY:Yoga as Healing Series
DESCRIPTION:Yoga as Healing is a 7-session trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness program hosted by UCSC’s CARE office. Spring Quarter classes will be held Tuesdays\, 6:00–7:30 p.m. from March 31–May 12. Classes are free for students. \nEach class facilitated by CARE Advocate Abbey Wise (she/ella)\, includes gentle\, trauma-informed movement\, breathwork\, meditation and reflective journaling to support survivors in reconnecting with their bodies\, building confidence and being present. Mats\, blocks\, blankets and journals are provided. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. \nCARE aims to build a consistent group of 8-10 survivors who can attend all 7 classes to foster the community\, predictability and safety core to the trauma-informed structure of the program. \nIf you are interested in participating submit an application and a CARE Advocate will get back to you with further information.
